This may seem like an unusual title, but hang with me for a minute. The past two days have been filled with "busyness" with the fall break from school that the kids have. I'm not complaining, I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with my wife and kids these last two days. But with that being said, we were driving down the road today and the Lord gave me these two words, "duelling IPods". Do I have your interest yet?
What I mean is this. For a good while now Bailey has had her own IPod (for those that don't know about them they are little musical radio looking things that you download music on) and Blake has NOT had one of his own. So, with this arrangement on long car rides there is always controversy over the IPod with it being Bailey's and Blake wants to listen to it. You get my drift? Well since Blake has had a birthday this month he has decided to save the money and buy for himself his very on IPod, which he did yesterday (PRAISE THE LORD). After sitting up half the night last night downloading songs onto his IPod and then updating Bailey's IPod, today's travel down the road was actually "quiet"! As I noticed the silence I looked in the rear view mirror and saw that both kids was enjoying their very own IPod at the same time, the Lord put these two words in my spirit "Duelling IPods".
Well what does this have to do with anything spiritual you might ask? Well, I asked the same thing when the Lord gave me these two words. The bible says in Romans 14:11 "For it is written: As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God." and verse 12 says: "So then each of us shall give account of himself to God." We cannot ask or even desire to put our eternal future in what someone else has. We are not going to get to Heaven on grandma's coat tail. We have to have our own salvation and walk it out for ourselves. We can't get caught up in tradition, religion, charismatic movements, what ever the title, we have to have a down right genuine Holy Spirit convicted moment that causes us to turn from our sins and turn to God. We have to have our own relationship with Jesus!!!!
Let me encourage you today that you don't have to live on someone else's experience with God. You can experience God's love, His mercy, His blessings, His goodness, His everlasting faithfullness. All you have to do is give Him yourself!
